11/4/2008
Selma, AL. - Vaughan Regional Medical Center's mammography department recently received a three-year term of accreditation in mammography as a result of a recent survey by the American College of Radiology.
"We are very proud of this achievement," said Chief Operating Officer Cherie Sibley. "We have recently added new digital mammography equipment to Vaughan. We average more than 450 mammograms each month, and we are very pleased to be able to provide this quality service for the citizens of Selma and Dallas County," Sibley said.
The ACR awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer-reviewed evaluation of the practice. Evaluations are conducted by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. They assess the qualifications of the personnel and the adequacy of the facility equipment. "This accreditation further demonstrates our commitment to quality patient care. Our employees continue to be our greatest asset, but these new modern technology upgrades will allow us to better meet the medical needs of our region as we continue to raise the level of care at Vaughan in every respect," Sibley said.
Vaughan Regional Medical Center is one of the largest sole community provider hospitals in the State of Alabama. Employing over 600 people, Vaughan Regional Medical Center is a 175-bed JCAHO nationally accredited facility proudly serving the residents of our west central Alabama communities.
